Foodtruck Throwdown: battle between Boston and NYC

Boston and New York City are (friendly) rivals in a variety of ways, although perhaps mostly in sports. An event this past weekend added to the competition between the two cities, as the Foodtruck Throwdown featured the very best of Boston's and NYC's foodtrucks.

The Boston Business Journal reports that a total of 18 foodtrucks attended the competition, with nine trucks coming from each city. They cooked up a variety of dishes, ranging from Mexican-themed edibles to French crepes to scrumptious desserts. Judges were on hand to taste and evaluate plates from each truck. The judging panel included Toro chef Jamie Bissonnette, BostonTweet's Tom O'Keefe, producer at WEEi Jon Albanese and chef Richard Chudy, the source notes.

There were several awards given at the event, such as a "Best of" for each city as well as the crowd favorite. But perhaps the most sought-after award at the Foodtruck Throwdown was the Best of the Festival, given out to the best dish after the judging, reports BostInno. Boston took that honor with Pennypackers' porchetta sandwich, giving The Hub one more thing to brag about over NYC.
