Attention Massachusetts nonprofits…The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Nonprofit Organization/Public Charities Division will now require nonprofit charitable organizations conducting business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to register for a Charity Portal account and file all charitable registrations and annual Form PC electronically. Let’s dive into the details. What is Form PC? Every public charity organized or operating in Massachusetts (MA),or soliciting funds in MA is required to file Form PC with the Nonprofit Organizations/Public Charities Division. Organizations that hold property for religious reasons or certain federally chartered organizations are not required to file. What’s changing? Starting September 1, 2023, MA will only accept electronic form PC filings. Paper submissions will no longer be accepted. In addition, Massachusetts has increased the gross support and revenue threshold for submitting IRS Form 990 with Form PC from $5,000 to $25,000. Important notes about filing: Keep in mind that you must be registered with the Public Charities Division to process your form PC- If you have not registered yet, you can do so here: https://www.mass.gov/info-deta...
