MA Governor Launches HireNow Grant Program

What is the HireNow Grant Program?

HireNow is a new grant program that provides funding to eligible Massachusetts employers who hire and retain Massachusetts residents. The program intends to address ongoing hiring challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

What employers are eligible?

To be eligible, employers must:

  • Be in good standing with the Department of Unemployment Assistance and Department of Revenue
  • Not be de-barred by the state

Note: Local, state or federal government employers are not eligible.

What hires are eligible?

Hires must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be Massachusetts residents employed in Massachusetts
  • Must have started after March 23, 2022
  • Must be retained for a minimum of 60 days
  • Must be placed in jobs where they are working at least 30 hours per week
  • Must make at least $14.25 per hour and not exceed $42.50 per hour

How do you apply?

Eligible employers must pre-register online by visiting Hire Now and provide employer information. Employers will submit a final application for funding following employees’ hire and 60 day retention period.

How much funding is provided?

The grant provides up to $4,000 for each eligible employee hired (with a limit of $400,000 per employer).
