global Tax The IRS is Reminding Taxpayers to E-file Before November 26th November 03, 2022 Have you not yet filed your 2021 tax return? The IRS is advising you to electronically file your 2021 return now before the e-file window closes on November 26, 2022. Attention taxpayers…the annual IRS e-file shutdown is November 26th, 2022. The shutdown means that no further electronic submissions will be accepted until the service re-opens in early 2023. More about the e-file deadline Taxpayers who have yet to file their 2021 tax returns will have until 11:59 p.m. EST on November 26th to e-file their returns. Returns submitted after this date will have to be submitted by paper. This deadline also includes original or amended returns filed for the 2019 and 2020 tax years. Please note after this date all 2019 submissions will have to be paper filed. Why is this so important? As of October 28th, 2022, the IRS is still operating under ‘mission- critical functions’ due to on-going challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, with 5.1 million unprocessed individual submissions.
