Tax Supervisor - Private Client Services

We are seeking a Tax Supervisor to join our Private Client Services team, to be based in our Boston, MA office on a flexible hybrid basis.

Responsibilities

  • Technical planning and advising of clients that include high-profile, high net worth individuals and families, as well as their related entities (including C-Corp, S-Corp, Trusts, and Partnerships)
  • Prepare and/or review complex federal and state tax returns within a high-net-worth practice, including Form 1040 (individual income tax), Form 1041 (trust and estate income tax), Form 706 (estate), and Form 709 (gift tax), along with related state fiduciary and gift tax filings
  • Prepare and review tax returns and related filings for private foundations and other 501(c)(3) organizations affiliated with high-net-worth clients, including Form 990-PF, excise tax calculations, charitable distribution requirements, and compliance with applicable governance and reporting standards
  • Work on engagement deliverables (such as tax returns, work papers, etc.); participate in technical and strategic reviews as a member of the engagement team to ensure quality control standards are met; ensure on time delivery and on budget
  • Own client work assigned for completion, and strategize with Managers regarding tax planning
  • Research tax issues and providing guidance to other staff assigned to engagement
  • Work closely with less-experienced staff, and assist management in mentoring, coaching, training, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Foster a team environment; demonstrate support of management and decisions and build a positive culture
  • Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of technical tax and compliance experience in public accounting
  • CPA certification or EA is highly preferred
  • Prior experience with high-net-worth individual taxation, including Forms 1040, 1041 and Form 709 (gift tax)
  • Preferred experience preparing and reviewing estate tax returns (Form 706) and fiduciary income tax returns, private foundations and 501(c)(3) organizations, including exposure to Form 990-PF and related compliance considerations
  • Researching tax issues to develop effective tax planning strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Familiarity and willingness to perform all types of tax work from entity to individual
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level work simultaneously
  • Ability to translate complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables

This is a full-time position with standard hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours, including some evenings and weekends, will be required during peak busy seasons.

Pay Range

The salary range for this position is included below. Individual salaries within this range do not include benefits and bonus potential, and are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.

$90,000.00 - $120,000.00
