The Boston hospitality is thriving with a plethora of talented chefs who create tasty dishes at restaurants around the region, and one upcoming competition is hoping to give these professionals the chance to whip up some delicious food.

The Boston Business Journal reports that Hop Chef, a cooking contest that will be held on June 26 in Boston, aims to find the best dish that complements a certain beer made by Brewery Ommegang, a Belgian-style beer maker based in New York state. The Boston event is one of four competitions that will take place throughout the country, and the source notes that the winners from each contest will then travel to Cooperstown, New York, where the Brewery's headquarters are located. These four chefs will then go head-to-head to create the best dish to go with Ommegang's beer.

The source states that the overall winner will be awarded with a year-long position at Saveur magazine, which is a co-sponsor of the event. The chef will also be featured at several cooking events in the coming months and into next year.

Hop Chef officials said that Boston was a great choice for one of the regional competitions due to its successful hospitality industry.

"Boston has a rich brewing history and is where I got my start in beer," said Phil Leinhart, Ommegang's brewmaster. "With world-class dining and craft breweries, big and small, Boston is a perfect location for a Hop Chef competition."
