How do you explain what you do to others not in the industry?

Every day is a new adventure! Relocating to the United States comes with many complex tax compliance requirements, and it’s my job to help individuals navigate these new responsibilities. Whether someone decides to move overseas, relocates to the U.S., gets married to a non-U.S. person, or frequently travels for business outside the United States, I’m here to help.

How has your experience traveling abroad and speaking on international tax panels helped you grow in your career?

With roots in the Dominican Republic, I came to the U.S. at age 8 fluent in Spanish, and later learned both English and French. Earlier in my career, I worked in Belgium, which strengthened my French and made me much more culturally acute. I was able to see firsthand what my clients go through when they relocate overseas.

Presenting on international tax panels in Switzerland for a few years has helped me strengthen existing relationships and create new ones. Additionally, I have traveled overseas for client meetings and development workshops which has provided a great foundation to cultivate an international network and understand different cultural viewpoints.

Why did you choose KLR?

When I relocated back to New England from New York, I sought after a firm that offered International Tax Services to clients…something I’ve always been passionate about. After I interviewed with KLR and several others I felt at home with KLR because the firm’s values resonate with me. Furthermore, KLR’s range of services facilitates getting the right team on the job. Since I am also a mom, the firm’s flexibility was a huge plus as well.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Not one day is like the previous day. I enjoy helping my clients, fostering existing relationships, and forging new ones. Within this profession we are fortunate as we can continue to develop and grow in an array of areas.

What are you passionate about?

Spending time with my family! I always make sure I am there for the important moments. We’ve been lucky to travel to many places, explore new cultures and try new cuisines. Seeing the world through my son’s eyes is really special to me!

Additionally, I strive to be a source of inspiration for other Latina women in the industry. I want them to know that any woman can achieve anything she puts her mind to. I’d say that’s definitely another passion of mine!
