global Tax EC Unveils Digital Single Market Strategy in Hopes of Improving Commerce June 30, 2015 16 step plan creates a single digital market for consumers and businesses across the EU. Online providers of goods and services, as well as the film, television, and telecommunications industries, would be affected by a recently disclosed plan of the European Commission to condense the EU’s 28 markets into one single digital market for value added tax (VAT) purposes. The 16 step strategy aims to improve commerce for both businesses and consumers. More About the Strategy Through the strategy, the EC plans to (among other things): Reduce the cross-border administrative burden that comes with complying with different value added tax (VAT) rules in the 28 different regimes.
