Massachusetts 2015 Tax Free Weekend August 15th and 16th

August 11, 2015

MA residents will enjoy tax savings August 15th and 16th.

MA will continue its tax free weekend tradition this year on August 15th and 16th .

What kind of savings am I looking at?

Like previous years, essentially all personal purchases in MA are tax free during this holiday. This means that any single “non-business” purchase under $2,500 is tax exempt. This includes purchases for more than just clothing, in store or online (online orders must be placed and paid for on 8/15 or 8/16).

This excludes purchases of:

  • Motor vehicles
  • Motorboats
  • Telecommunications services
  • Restaurant meals
  • Gas
  • Tobacco

Additionally, any purchase made with business checks or credit cards is not included in the tax exemption.
