Board Development
Board members are ultimately responsible for the very survival, financial viability, and program success of the not-for-profit organization.
Although every organization is unique, there are fundamental responsibilities that hold true for almost every board. And, while no model has proven itself viable in all circumstances, a body of knowledge has evolved that argues for certain structures, policies and practices that have been consistently shown to work better than others. Of course, organizations evolve over time and some of what you read in this series may not be perfect for your organization today, but keep it in mind as you may want to reflect back on this later.
